Western Zone blood collection online booking available

-

People who need to book an appointment for blood collection at Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) sites now have the option to do so either online or over the telephone.

Patients wishing to book a blood collection appointment online at Nova Scotia Health sites offering this service can visit https://booking. nshealth.ca any time.

Patients without internet access will continue to be able to make blood collection appointments by phone, by calling toll-free in the Western Zone: 1-833-998-2722. Call from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

While the number of people using the telephone option to book blood collection appointments remains high, there has been a considerable drop in the number of callers on Saturdays in the Western Zone. That appointment booking telephone line was dropped as of Feb. 6.

Requiring booked blood collection appointments, as opposed to the former walk-in service, is part of Nova Scotia Health’s COVID-19 response and helps maintain physical/ social distancing in our waiting areas.

When coming for blood collection, people are asked to please arrive on time, and not early, to avoid congestion in waiting areas.

“The safety of our patients and our staff is top priority,” says the NSHA.
