$1.7-million contract awarded for sidewalks

The Municipality of Yarmouth has awarded a $1,749,000 (plus HST) contract to Garian Construction for the construction of three sidewalks.

The projects are:

• a 300-metre stretch (east side) on Highway 1 in Dayton by the Dayton Red & White store

• 160 metres along the south side of the Greenville Road from Highway 1

• a 300-metre section along Highway #1 (east side) from the Richmond Road to Port Maitland Consolidated School, which will connect to an existing sidewalk

Although the intent was to have the sidewalk project start last year, DesignPoint – a design and engineering firm based in Bedford – had to wait for approval from the environment department before the construction tender could be prepared.

The construction process will take six to eight weeks in 2022.
