Despite the pandemic and material shortages and delays that many construction projects have had to cope with over the past 18 months, the new Villa Acadienne is on budget and on track for completion in 2023 to replace the current seniors' long-term care facility.

Yvon Thibodeau, director of facility services at the current Villa Acadienne, says Bird Construction (of Halifax) has been a “very good company” to work with.

“They're on the ball.

They're aware of all the circumstances and challenges out there and they've done very well,” he says.

The current Villa was built in 1975, with a few additions over the years. It will be placed on the market to be sold after completion of the replacement facility.

The design of the new complex, which is located behind the Meteghan Fire Hall and Sip Café, is based on a “household” model of care where residents live in smaller groups, or households, each with its own dining, food prep and other support areas.

The new home will have 10 additional beds, for a total of 96. All rooms are private, wheelchair accessible and

You might not want to return to the more serious tasks facing you. But you know it's what you must do. Cheer up. Something more pleasant will soon occupy your time.

As you dutifully tidy your end-of-the-month tasks, your fun self emerges to urge you to do something special: A trip (or a cruise, maybe?) could be just what you need.

Your achievements are admirable as you close out the month with a roar. Now you can treat yourself to some include private bathrooms. It is one of the first long-term care facilities in the province to be built according to the new Department of Health and Wellness standards.

During the design process, feedback from residents and staff was gathered to ensure well-earned time off for fun with family or friends. (Or both!)

Be sure you know the facts before you assume someone is holding back on your project. Try to open your mind before you give someone a piece of it.

You might feel comfortable in your familiar surroundings, but it might be time to venture into something new. There's a challenge out there that's just right for you.

Your love of things that are that the new facility was built with their needs in mind.

Tracy McCullough, Villa Acadienne's director of finance, says staff are excited about the complex, which is about 75,000 square-feet.

“It will be different from what it is here," she says. "It's new gets a big boost as you encounter a situation that opens up new and exciting vistas. How far you go with it depends on you.

That recent workplace shift might not seem to be paying off as you expected. But be patient. There are changes coming that could make a big difference.

While few can match the Goat's fiscal wizardry, you still need to be wary in your dealings. There might be a problem you should know about sooner rather than later. quite a bit bigger, at least twice, maybe three times larger."

To assure that the quality of care required by the residents is provided, the facility consists of an interdisciplinary team of heath-care providers including nursing, medical, nutrition, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation and pastoral care.

McCullough says those at the Villa have been waiting for the new facility for a very long time.

“It's like a dream coming true. Some of the residents are looking forward to it as well. We're just happy that it's happening."

As for the proximity to the fire hall, there's little chance that firetruck sirens will be disturbing the residents. Meteghan fire chief Alain Comeau says siren use varies depending on the call and the situation.

“It's not very often that we leave the hall with the lights and sirens on,” he says. “We'd only do that for a major incident and most of our calls are small.”

Easy does it when it comes to love and all the other good things in life. Don't try to force them to develop on your schedule. Best to let it happen naturally.

A surprise decision by someone you trust causes some stormy moments. But a frank discussion explains everything, and helps save a cherished relationship.

Sometimes you forget to take care of yourself, because you're so busy caring for others. But you wouldn't have it any other way.
