Keynote lecturers, panel discussions, various workshops, networking, celebrations and physical activities will all be part of the women's summit 'Strength is in Our Roots: From Exhaustion to Thriving' being held Aug. 13 to 15 during Congrès mondial acadien 2024 (CMA).

Being hosted at various venues in Clare and Argyle during the World Acadian Congress, the women's summit will feature speakers:

▪ Danièle Henkel, an emblematic figure of entrepreneurship and star of the show Dans l'oeil du Dragon;

▪ Blandine Soulmana, author and key figure on the Quebec scene in terms of human rights and resilience;

▪ Stéphanie St-Pierre, a historian and professor in the Department of Human Sciences at Université Sainte-Anne.

"We have prepared a wide-ranging and inspiring program that addresses a wide range of concerns in women's daily lives," says Jeannine Riant, head of the summit. "Women wear many hats within their families and communities. We invite women to come and recharge, share their stories in a friendly atmosphere and cool off in the salty air of southwestern Nova Scotia. The women's summit is an opportunity to come and have fun and learn.”

Manon Lavoie, author, certified coach in creativity and positive psychology and founder of M for Muses, will serve as a workshop facilitator and roundtable participant.

The keynote speakers are the anchors for three days of activities that include discussions on financial health, stress management, and emotional, physical and mental balance. The summit will also offer networking opportunities, mini-yoga, dance and meditation sessions, participation in various exhibitions and more.

Since 1994, the women's summit has been an integral part of the CMA. This component aims to mobilize Acadian and Francophone women to ensure an inclusive and non-judgmental gathering opportunity to equip participants for a healthier life. The summit also celebrates the intergenerational transfer of traditional and modern knowledge and the societal change achieved by women's leadership, while inspiring the next generation.

The registration fee for the summit is $45. Meals from the evening of Aug. 13 to the morning of Aug. 15 are included in this fee. Accommodations at Université Sainte-Anne are available exclusively to participants at a cost of $100 per night for a single room or $150 per night for a double room.
