Projects in Municipality of Argyle get provincial funding
The Municipality of Argyle will receive more than $1.2 million in provincial funding to improve water supply for emergency fire services and commercial use in East Pubnico, as well as to expand the sewer treatment plant in Tusket.
Argyle MLA Colton LeBlanc announced the funding through the Municipal Capital Grant Program (MCGP).
The provincial government is contributing $750,000 to make urgent repairs to East Pubnico's holding tank and over $489,000 to increase the
wastewater capacity by 50 percent at the Tusket sewer treatment plant.
“The Municipality of
Argyle is a key partner in helping grow our province. Our region faces unique challenges and I know that today's investment will make a difference for the growth and safety of our communities for years to come,” said LeBlanc in a media release. “I am proud that our government is supporting priorities that are important to our municipality.”
The Municipal Capital Grant Program (MCGP) supports critical infrastructure projects including housing, climate change, accessibility, and growth throughout the province, providing up to 50 percent of eligible costs for each project. This program will help build up Nova Scotian communities with a onetime $102 million investment in municipal infrastructure across the province, says the province.
“The Municipality of Argyle is excited to partner with the province to enhance and upgrade our infrastructure.
This funding will improve our water supply in East Pubnico and increase our wastewater capacity in Tusket,” said Municipality of the District of Argyle Warden Danny Muise.
The projects are anticipated to begin in the spring and must be completed by March 31, 2026.
