Church celebrating 25th year of charity auction
2024 version of the event happening on April 13
It’s that time again when Beacon Church in Yarmouth opens its doors and bangs its auction gavel.
This year marks 25 years for the aptly named ‘Talents and Treasures Auction.’ The event takes place on Saturday, April 13, in the church hall located at 25 Beacon St.
“This year is especially interesting for us,” says Stephen Sollows, coordinator of the event. “In addition to the many items we collect over the year, we also received the contents of two estates. There’s some beautiful furniture, antiques, and other collectibles that will be up for bid.”
But this isn’t all the auction offers. In addition to furniture and other wares, the charity auction will be offering up professional services, handcrafts, plants, baked goods and more, reads a media release.
“You’re sure to find something of interest,” it states.
The $3 admission, which has not increased for several years, includes registration, a bidding paddle, and the right to bid on anything in the auction.
The afternoon begins with viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. People can peruse the numerous items on display and identify their potential treasures. Or they can take a more relaxed approach and sit down with a homemade hamburger soup lunch that can be purchased from the kitchen.
The auction begins at 1 p.m.
“Whether you’re a serious bidder, or simply a socialite, you’ll find the event both fun and energizing,” reads the release. “Plus, you’ll be supporting an organization that gives back to the community.”
