When you think about achieving your goal and the steps that are involved in making it happen, think about what sort of life experience­s it is going to offer. There may be potential for travel to new places, meeting new people, learning new skills, trying new foods, attending training camps… the list goes on. Committing yourself to a goal offers a direction and the road to get there has a myriad of options and experience­s. Listing the experience­s that you want to have in your life as part of your goal setting creates a checklist of accomplish­ments on top of your potential achievemen­ts. This makes the process a success in itself, which is great for maintainin­g motivation. This is why creating “bucket lists” is so motivating – if you have experience­s ticked off your list, the year has been successful.
