One of the most ef­fec­tive ways to kick-start your mul­tisport sea­son is to com­pete in one or more of triathlon’s in­di­vid­ual sports sep­a­rately. The nice thing about be­ing a mul­tisport ath­lete com­pet­ing in a sin­gle sport event is that it al­le­vi­ates some of the pres­sure you might feel dur­ing your key mul­tisport races. Tak­ing part is sim­ply a means to an end. Com­pet­ing in each sport in­di­vid­u­ally is an op­por­tu­nity to re­fine your skills and your fit­ness be­fore you com­bine them into one larger event. Com­pet­i­tive run­ning events in the spring are a great ad­di­tion to your mul­tisport sea­son – here are some rea­sons why.
