• Think about your tran­si­tion area set-up be­fore­hand, es­pe­cially the or­der in which you’ll need the gear for the next leg of the race.

• Thank a vol­un­teer and stick around to cheer on other rac­ers. • Prepa­ra­tion helps me be a lit­tle less anx­ious on race day. Check out the swim, ride and run the course ahead of time if you can, or at least drive it so you know what to ex­pect. Prac­tice your tran­si­tion – get­ting trapped in your wet­suit is no fun. And, no, you can’t pull on a jersey if you’ve al­ready strapped on your hel­met.
