LORI BOWDEN

THE DAUGHTER OF KONA qualifying parents, perhaps the best word that describes Bowden is consistency. The Ironman Hall of Fame member earned her first podium finish in Kona in 1997 when she finished second. That began a streak of sevenstraight podium finishes on the Big Island, including two wins (1999 and 2003) four runner-up finishes and one third-place finish. She also captured the prestigious Zofingen Powerman title during her impressive career. Despite the laid back demeanor she had off the race course, her transformation into a fierce competitor once the gun sounded remains an inspiration to Canadian triathletes today.
