Triathletes of the Year
Once again we take a look at the sport’s top performers of 2019 and, as always, it’s a struggle. Canadians posted some great results around the world again last year, proving that the sport is as healthy and competitive as ever as we head into an Olympic year.
It was another great year for Canadian triathletes on the world stage. We saw a Canadian man achieve a podium finish at a World Triathlon Series (WTS) Event and win the Tokyo Test Event. We also saw an athlete capture his fourth straight World Paratriathlon Championship gold medal, also take the Tokyo test event and dominate every Para triathlon he entered. On the women’s side, we saw a Canadian on a WTS podium again, and a paratriathlete and her guide nail a bronze at the worlds, then take their first Paratriathlon World Cup event in Tokyo. Needless to say, there’s a lot to celebrate for our triathletes of the year. Once again we celebrate these impressive achievements in conjunction with Triathlon Canada. Triathlon Canada also hands out Excellence Awards to athletes who win a medal at a world championship event (as long as they finish in the top half of their category).
