Making a Difference
IN A YEAR that turned all aspects of our regular lives upside down, the fact that many of us weren’t able to participate in any events was tough, but certainly not the end of the world. We will get back to racing again – it might take a bit longer than we’d like, but we will. Since there was next to no racing in 2020, we’ve decided to forgo our normal Triathlete of the Year celebration. Instead, we’re going to focus on those from our community who made a difference in one way or another through the COVID craziness we’ve endured this year. As you’ll see from the following features, many triathletes made their mark on their communities in a very different way this year. Whether it was donning PPE to help out in a seniors’ home, putting on races or sewing masks and gowns for hospitals, so many in our triathlon community stepped up and made a difference in 2020.
We can’t ever thank the people who have worked so hard this year to keep us safe and healthy enough, but hopefully this year’s celebration of those who made a difference can inspire you to express your thanks to those who have done so much in your neighbourhood.
