Hed Jet 180
US$1,900 Designed with Kona in mind, Hed’s new superdeep-rimmed Jet 180 provides disc-like performance where disc wheels aren’t permitted, for example, the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Despite its deep rim, the wheel is designed to handle any wind conditions, including the stiff crosswinds that can knock you off your game along the Queen K highway on the Big Island. Like all the Hed products, the new Jet 180 is hand-built in the company’s Minnesota factory. It’s available in both disc and as a Black Series rim brake model. Tubeless compatible, the rims come with a 32.5-mm external width, providing both a smooth ride and aero performance. How aero? There’s no doubt the speedy wheel helped Sam Laidlow shatter the bike course in Kona this year. (See Bike Training, p.30)—KM
