Vankleek Hill Cougars split January opening games

The Vankleek Hill Cougars beat the South Grenville Rangers by one point in their Jan. 6 home game to start off their New Year’s schedule. The following Sunday the Cougars were in Papineauvi­lle where they lost to the Vikings 7-2.

Scoring for Vankleek Hill against South Grenville were Marc-Antoine Doyon with two goals and Jonathan Leblanc firing in a single. Goal assists came from Charles Doyon, Trystan Lavoie, Brendan Rowe, and Riley Sauvé. Sébastien Moreau guarded the Cougars net.

Goals for the Rangers came from Sam Bell and Cameron Dillon with assists from Bradley Douesnard, Kristopher Laushway, Devan Miller, and Hayden Sayeau. Lee Spurgeon occupied the South Grenville net.

Sunday’s goals for the Cougars came from Jeremy Aubin. Assisting on the goals were Nikolas Ayotte and Jonathan Leblanc. Dominik Turcotte occupied the Vankleek Hill net.

Xavier Marengère scored two goals for the Vikings. Remaining Papineauvi­lle points came from Mathieu Des Ruisseaux, Joël Gagnon, Mathieu Lapointe, Pascal Leblanc, and Jeremy Trudeau. Goal assists came from Leblanc, Marengère, Trudeau, Anthony Laprade, Jacob Osborne, Joey Simoneau, Vincent Tardif-Richard, and Maxime Trenblay. Yanick Gosselin guarded the Vikings net.

The Cougars host the North Dundas Rockets, Jan. 13, 7:30 p.m., then go on the road the next day to face the Gatineau Hull-Volant. Les Cougars de Vankleek Hill ont battu les Rangers de South Grenville par un point dans leur match à domicile le 6 janvier. Le dimanche suivant, les Cougars étaient à Papineauvi­lle où ils ont perdu contre les Vikings 7-2.
