Cham­plain Town­ship pu­blic works staff will be re­vie­wing mu­ni­ci­pal plans to lo­cate all the old fire de­part­ment well re­ser­voirs, which may no lon­ger be ac­tive. The pu­blic works com­mit­tee re­vie­wed a re­port, in­clu­ding pho­tos, of an old fire de­part­ment well re­ser­voir that col­lap­sed at 876 Queen Street in L’Ori­gnal, da­ma­ging a ho­meow­ner’s dri­ve­way. Town­ship cost for a pro­per col­lap­sing and filling in of the old well plus re­pai­ring the dri­ve­way was $4000. There are se­ve­ral other old fire de­part­ments well re­ser­voirs bu­ried around the town­ship. Pu­blic works staff will lo­cate them for pro­per and safe de­com­mis­sio­ning and re­bu­rial. – Gregg Chamberlain
