RANGERS CLIP COUGARS FOR THANKSGIVI­NG

Thanksgivi­ng weekend was not a happy time for the Vankleek Hill Cougars as they lost 5-4 Saturday night to the South Grenville Rangers.

Scoring singles for the Cougars during second and third periods were Justin Chaumont, Trystan Lavoie, Zacharie Leblanc, and Samuel Lemay. Assisting on the goals were Chaumont, Lemay, Shayne Allen, Nikolas Ayotte, Nicolas Castonguay, Zack Labbé, and Jonathan Lacroix, with Frederick Durocher warding the Vankleek Hill net.

Rangers assistant captain Cameron Dillon punched in a pair of goals for South Grenville. Scoring the remaining points were Jared Fenlong, Jordan Poulin, and Dylan Sharpley. Assisting on the goals were Sharpley, Matthew Berry, Jordan Dodge, Braydan Forestell, Matthew O’Brien, and Jacob Servage. Samuel Limoges-Ring guarded the Rangers net.

The Cougars host St-Isidore Saturday, October 19, then go to Clarence Creek on Sunday to play the Castors.

St-Isidore

Junior hockey fans in Saint-Isidore had lots to be thankful for over the weekend with a pair of wins for the home team.

Saint-Isidore beat the North Dundas Rockets 6-3 Saturday night at the Chestervil­le Arena then hammered the Gatineau Hull-Volant 9-1 on home ice on Sunday.

Jakob Brunette scored a hat trick against the Rockets and assisted on two other goals during the Saturday night match. Roy Nicholas popped in a pair of goals and also assisted on two more. The remaining point for Saint-Isidore came from Kevin Howson, who also assisted on two other goals.

Also assisting on the scoring for SaintIsido­re were Frédérik Laflèche, Alexis Leclerc, Patrick Ranger, and Ryan Wells.à

Scoring for North Dundas were Cole Hodges, Joel Hunt, and Jack van Kessel. Assisting on the goals were Hunt, Pierce Egan, Xavier Langevin, Brett Lannin, and William Watson.

It was hat trick weekend for Brunette with three goals against Gatineau on Sunday night, plus an assist on another goal. Xavier Leclerc punched in two points for St-Isidore. Finishing up the tally with single goals were Jeremy Arbour, Alexis Leclerc, Nicholas Roy, and Ryan Wells. Goal assists came from Arbour, Leclerc, Philippe Brunet, Philippe Burden, Kevin Howson, Frédérik Laflèche, and Jacob Lamoureux. Irving Dawson guarded the net.

The lone Gatineau goal came from Mattias Roy with help from Jacob Leguerier.

This Saturday night has Saint-Isidore versus Vankleek Hill at the Vankleek Hill Arena. Sunday night Saint-Isidore hosts the Bytown Royals.

Clarence Creek

The Clarence Creek Castors crowned the Bytown Royals 4-2 on Thanksgivi­ng Sunday.

Jacob Servant punched in a pair of goals. Singles from Dominik Bourgeois and Kyle Goodman finished up the Castors score tally. Goal assists came from Bourgeois, Servant, Jordan Croft-Stevenson, and Brandon Legare. Andrew Larivière guarded the Clarence Creek net.

Joshua Renaud scored both of the Bytown goals, with help from Noah Danis and Lucas Prud’homme. Zachary Bourassa and Danik Gervais shared goal-keeping duty.

The Castors are in Morrisburg Saturday night to face the Lions then home Sunday afternoon to play the Vankleek Hill Cougars.
