Johnson chosen candidate for local Liberal associatio­n in next provincial election

Craig Johnson has been chosen by the Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River Liberal Associatio­n to be their standard-bearer for the next provincial election.

Johnson, an executive director of a non-profit and a community volunteer, was nominated on Thursday.

He defeated fellow candidate Barry Mellish at the nomination meeting, held at the Best Western Glengarry. Approximat­ely 225 people attended.

Johnson is chairman of the 2016 Nova Scotia Music Week Host Committee; treasurer/chairman of finance for First United Church; treasurer of the Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River Liberal Associatio­n; and Chair of the Provincial Exhibition Marketing Committee. He also serves on the Truro Showcase Film Festival Committee and, in 2015, founded the Truro-One Act Play Festival with his wife Jennifer.
