Blue Jays donating to hurricane relief
TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays will be making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross hurricane relief efforts.
The team said in a statement Saturday that it will be donating $1 from the sale of every ticket to today’s home game against the Baltimore Orioles to the Red Cross.
The eye of powerful Hurricane Irma struck southwestern Florida, the Keys and the Tampa Bay region Sunday. The Blue Jays spring training home in Dunedin, Fla., is less than 40 kilometres from Tampa. They also have a Class-A affiliate there.
