Wilsons Home Heating is once more collecting winter clothing for kids over the next month.

People are invited to donate their gently-used coats, gloves, mittens, scarves and toques at their store on 97 Pleasant St. in Truro. e Coats For Kids drive is running from Oct. 15 to Nov. 30.

“It’s just another way for Wilsons to give back to the community,” said sales manager Doug Macinnes.

e store is teaming up with Big Dog and Cat Country radio stations for Coats For Kids.

Coats under size six will be sent by Wilsons to the Maggie’s Place Family Resource Centre on Prince Street, while larger-sized clothing will go to the Slate Youth Centre just up the road. Macinnes said there was a particular need for smaller-sized clothing to kit out infants.

Macinnes said Coats For Kids, which has now been running annually for 11 years, has proved a success. Last year, the Wilsons Home Hardware Colchester Cyclones female hockey league collected half a ton of winter clothing.

Many private donors, instead of donating used clothing, will buy coats and other winter accessories brand new from local stores, expressly for supporting Coats for Kids.

People can also drop o or pick up coats at Maggie’s Place on 1027 Prince St., for size six or under and at the Boys and Girls Club of Truro and Colchester if they need a size seven or bigger.
