Fund ‘raising’ the Roof helps out Knox church

BROOKFIELD, N.S. — They’re fundraisin­g the roof at Knox United Church.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, from 7-9 p.m., a concert and dance will be held at the Brookfield church to raise money for re-shingling. The Metro New Horizons Jazz Band will perform with Lori Nielsen. She will be featured as a soloist, and will also perform with her daughter Erica Nielsen as part of a vocal quartet. Music will include a mix of big band jazz classics like In the Mood, with the vocal quartet singing with the band on Chattanoog­a Choo-choo, I Got a Gal in Kalamazoo and Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie. Lori will be featured on Amy Winehouse’s version of Our Day Will Come, Cher’s The Shoop Shoop Song and Natalie Cole’s What A Di erence a Day Makes. Instrument­als include several popular songs like Pharrell Williams’s Happy, ABBA’S Mamma Mia, Van Morrison’s Moondance, Sting’s Fields of Gold and Phil Collins’s Easy Lover. There will also be classic Beatles songs. Admission is $10 at the door.
