Cougars advance to Division 1 soccer nal

SYDNEY, N.S. – The Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars have advanced to the nal four provincial soccer championship for Division 1 girls.

The Cougars posted two wins to earn the berth, rst knocking o Sir John A. Macdonald 2-0 last Thursday in a qualifying match played at Hants East Sportsplex Dome. That put them into a qualifying match for the provincials and they emerged victorious with a 2-1 shootout win over Riverview, in a contest played at Cape Breton University. The game was tied 1-1 after regulation and 30 minutes of overtime solved nothing. It took seven shooters aside to determine a winner in penalty kicks with CEC taking it 5-4.

The Cougars now advance to the provincial nals, being played this coming Friday and Saturday.
