It’s Music Week in Truro

This weekend offers people a chance to both hear some favourite singers and discover some new ones.

Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) runs today through Saturday, Nov. 4, bringing more than 90 musical acts to Truro.

Performers include wellknown names such as George Canyon, Alycia Putnam, Alert the Medic, Garrett Mason, Makayla Lynn, Port Cities, Roxy & The Undergroun­d Soul Sound, The Stanfields, and The Town Heroes.

Musicians will be on stage at the Marigold Cultural Centre, Holiday Inn, Belly Up BBQ & Grill, Royal Canadian Legion, and The Nook & Cranny Brew Pub, with children’s entertaine­rs at the Truro branch of the Colchester­East Hants Public Library.

NSMW is owned and operated by Music Nova Scotia.

Along with showcasing establishe­d and emerging artists to the public, it provides workshops, receptions, networking opportunit­ies, and an internatio­nal and domestic buyers program.

Musicians perform Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with both afternoon and evening shows at Belly Up Bar & Grill on Saturday.

The nominees for children’s artist of the year- Razzmatazz for Kids, Little Miss Moffat, and Matt the Music Man will be on stage at the library 11 a.m. on Saturday. NSMW will conclude on Sunday, with the Music Nova Scotia Awards Celebratio­n at the Holiday Inn.

Tickets can be purchased online at https://nsmw.ca/, or pay at the door, with entry to all venues subject to capacity.
