Beyond Boxing extends helping hand

Truro tness studio helps families in need during the holiday season

anks to Ted Ash and Beyond Boxing Fitness Society, almost 40 families in need enjoyed Christmas dinner this holiday season.

Ash, co-owner and head coach at Beyond Boxing, did a weightloss challenge fundraiser where he had people sponsor him $1 for every pound he lost. In the end, Ash shed 13 pounds.

He said the response was overwhelmi­ng, as some people upped their sponsorshi­p to as much as $100, while others contribute­d $50 and $30.

Following the fundraiser, Ash worked with Sobeys to buy Christmas dinners – including turkey, veggies, stu ng, cranberrie­s, desserts and juice – for 38 families.

Ash then delivered the goods to the Salvation Army for distributi­on to those in need.

“I can’t begin to express my gratitude to the people who helped us reach this goal,” said Ash. “ ey are all our friends from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and as far as Fort Mcmurray and B.C.

“It was a great success and I am absolutely amazed by the support,” he added. “I cannot thank those people enough.”
