Marshall’s OT winner lifts ’Cats to victory

TRURO, N.S. — The Truro Bearcats rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period and edged the South Shore Lumberjack­s 4-3 in overtime in a Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League game on Sunday.

Nicolas Marshall potted the OT winner, assisted by Bryson Curie and Jeremiah Martin.

South Shore jumped out to a 2-0 rst-period lead, before Currie scored on a power-play in the second. The Lumberjack­s went ahead 3-1 with 8:46 remaining. Brayden Schmitt scored with 6:31 to go and Philip Ballard netted the equalizer with 4:22 left to send the game to overtime. Bearcats goaltender Cole Derosiers made 17 saves.

In a 5-1 win over the Dartmouth Whalers on Saturday, Currie and Joseph Mason each scored twice for Truro, while Ballard added a single marker and Aiden Tucker collected two assists. Lisa Mombourque­tte made 22 saves for the win.
