League-leading Mariners in town Saturday

The Truro Bearcats host a pair games this weekend after a sweeping two contests last week in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

e Bearcats host the Valley Wildcats on Friday, followed by a date with the league-leading Yarmouth Mariners on Saturday. Both contests are slated for 7 p.m. at the RECC.

Truro started 2019 on a high note, as it picked up an 8-5 win over the South Shore Lumberjack­s last Friday, followed by a 3-2 home-ice victory over the St. Stephen Aces on Saturday.

It was the rst set of games for the Bearcats out of the Christmas break.

Shaun Bily led the charge against the Lumberjack­s with a hat trick, while Kyle Sexton chipped in a pair of goals and Caleb Hart, Dylan Burton and Karter Renouf added singles. Myles Hektor made 35 saves for the win.

Against the Aces, the Bearcats built a 3-0 rst-period lead and hung on for a one-goal victory. Renouf, Bily and Lauchie MacDonald, on a power play, scored for the home team and Hektor made 27 stops.

e Bearcats (18-10-1-1) sit in third place in the Eastlink South Division, just four points behind the second-place Amherst Ramblers.
