Jail time or­dered for sex­ual in­ter­fer­ence with mi­nor

TRURO, N. S. – A Salmon River man who pleaded guilty in pro­vin­cial court to sex­ual in­ter­fer­ence (touch­ing) in­volv­ing a per­son un­der age 16 has been sen­tenced to one year in jail.

Stephen Ed­ward Lums­den, 58, of East Prince Street must also serve two years of pro­ba­tion fol­low­ing his re­lease from cus­tody.

Lums­den had to pay $700 to­ward his foren­sic sex­ual be­hav­iour as­sess­ment and must take coun­selling for sex­ual de­viance.

He is not to have con­tact with his com­plainant and must not be alone in the pres­ence of a fe­male un­der 18, ex­cept while in the com­pany of an­other adult.

Lums­den was fur­ther or­dered to pro­vide a DNA sam­ple and his name will be added to the Sex­ual Of­fender In­for­ma­tion Reg­istry for 20 years.
