Macken­zie, Carol Jean, Brockville, ON. It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the death of Carol Jean Macken­zie on Jan­uary 8, 2019. Carol was born in Truro, Nova Sco­tia, the daugh­ter of the late Wil­son and Lil­lian Lynds. Af­ter her mar­riage to hus­band Bob, she lived in Ithaca NY, Berkeley CA and for many years in Mon­treal where they raised their chil­dren and wel­comed the ar­rival of three grand­chil­dren. Af­ter re­tir­ing to Brockville in 2013, she was of­ten seen at the Brockville YMCA in exercise classes or in the pool. Carol en­joyed gar­den­ing, cy­cling, hik­ing and cross-coun­try skiing and was a pas­sion­ate vol­un­teer in the Pal­lia­tive Care Pro­gram at the Brockville Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal. Carol had a trade­mark in­fec­tious smile that re­flected her gen­uine in­ter­est in oth­ers. Carol is sur­vived by her hus­band Robert, her chil­dren, Kevin (Cory); Lisa (Christo­pher); grand­chil­dren Jack­son, Dun­can and Syd­ney; sis­ters, Patsy Spence; Gertrude (Hol­lis) Mcrae; Bon­nie (Eu­gene) Roode; Lola Dun­lap; Laura (Don) Shaw; Diane (Rod) Forbes; brother, David (Priscilla) Lynds and many nieces and neph­ews. She was pre­de­ceased by her sis­ter Sharon; brothers in law Clarence McCal­lum, Luther Spence, and Roy Dun­lap. Cre­ma­tion was car­ried out in Brockville and in ac­cor­dance with Carol’s wishes and there was no for­mal ser­vice at that time. Many friends met with the fam­ily at a re­cep­tion held on Jan­uary 12. Carol’s ashes will be in­terred fol­low­ing a grave­side ser­vice on Satur­day, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ro­bie Street Ceme­tery in Truro, NS. Ar­range­ments are un­der the di­rec­tion of Mat­tatal­lVarner Fu­neral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A re­cep­tion will fol­low from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at the Hol­i­day Inn, 437 Prince St. Truro.
