Bearcats visit Mariners for se­cond straight week

TRURO, N.S. – The Truro Bearcats will get an­other crack at the de­fend­ing champs this week. The Bearcats are on the road again to meet the Yar­mouth Mariners on Friday in a Mar­itime Ju­nior Hockey League con­test. Last Friday, Truro dropped a 5-2 de­ci­sion at a sold-out Mariners Cen­tre in the sea­son-open­ing game for both teams. Bearcat rook­ies Lu­cas Par­sons and Matt Gor­don scored goals in the loss, while Cur­tis Hef­fer­nan, Spencer Black­well, Cole Ju­lian and Zac Welsh had as­sists. Jor­dan Mckenna struck twice for the reign­ing league cham­pion Mariners, while Kaleb Boudreau, Sam Gil­lis and Daniel Surette added sin­gles.

Bearcats goalie Alec Macdonald made 27 saves, while his team­mates fired 31 shots at Mariners net­min­der Justin Su­marah.
