Truro tennis players enjoy success at Halifax event

Truro Daily News - - SPORTS - STEPHEN MALLOV Stephen Mallov is marketing manager of the Cougar Dome.

The Cougar Dome’s group of high performance tennis kids scored some big results in a recent 3.5 star Atlantic Tennis Alliance tournament in Halifax.

Meghna Anand backed up her recent tournament victory in January with another strong performance. She captured two titles in U14 and U16 girls singles, continuing a dominant year for the Cougar Dome athlete. Fellow Truro player Sofia Gonzalez also posted a great performance, as she captured third place in U14, and reached the U16 semifinals.

Truro athletes also had success in other events, as the brother-sister tandem of Joni and Caden Colburne advanced deep into multiple categories. Joni captured back-to-back second-place finishes, reaching the final in U12 girls singles, as well as U10 boys singles, which represent some of her strongest results to date. In a large U12 boys field, Caden had a trio of dominant victories before a tough loss in the final to the No. 1 seed.

This indoor season has proved to be exceptional for the contingent of Truro tennis athletes. They represent strong results, and the Cougar Dome is thrilled with the kids’ skill development.
