Her­itage awards be­ing pre­sented Thurs­day evening

TRURO, N.S. – Her­itage Night cel­e­bra­tions are be­ing held Thurs­day evening, Feb. 20, and ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend.

The Colch­ester His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will present her­itage awards, at the Colch­ester Hi­s­toreum, be­gin­ning at 7 p.m.

Award re­cip­i­ents in­clude au­thors Stacey Culgin, for her book “An His­tor­i­cal Sketch of Bel­mont and Area”; Bob Taylor, for his book “Mu­nic­i­pal Aware­ness: An In­sider View”; and Dr. Mar­got Roach and Ian Glass for their book, “A Chron­i­cle of the Roach Fam­ily,” an ex­plo­ration of life in Tata­m­agouche and the med­i­cal prac­tices there of gen­er­a­tions of the fam­ily.

Al­lan C. Bon­ny­man will be rec­og­nized for his vol­un­teer work with Cream­ery Square Mu­seum and North Shore Ar­chives, and Michael Boul­ton will be hon­oured for his ef­forts at the Colch­ester Hi­s­toreum.

The Earl­town Community Cen­tre So­ci­ety, nom­i­nated by the County of Colch­ester, will be pre­sented with an award for the preser­va­tion and re­use of the community school­house, which was built in 1865 and is now in use as a community cen­tre.

The Town of Truro will present the Robert Hilchey Memo­rial Her­itage Award to the restora­tion project by U-haul at 34 Court St. in Truro.
