Bearcat-of-the-week hon­ours went to for­ward, James Walker. In the two home wins on the week­end, he scored two goals and as­sisted on two others.

The 200-ft. ac­qui­si­tion from the Mi­ramichi Tim­ber­wolves plays a steady, phys­i­cal game along the wall, earn­ing pow­er­play duty as well.

He got his hockey start in the Port Hawkes­bury and Port Hood mi­nor as­so­ci­a­tions. At the ban­tam level, he suited up with the Nova Ju­nior X-men Ma­jors for a few years be­fore start­ing the 2014-15 sea­son in Ot­tawa with the CIHA Voyageurs Mi­nor Midget Prep. The next two sea­sons he played with the Rothe­say Nether­wood Prep Pro­gram, scor­ing well in League and ex­hi­bi­tion play. Three years ago, the 2016 Amherst pick played with the Brockville Braves (CCHL). Last year he came to Mi­ramichi, scor­ing 19 goals and adding 14 as­sists. The Bearcats ac­quired his rights at the trade dead­line.


The Bearcats hit the road this week­end be­fore re­turn­ing to the friendly con­fines at the RECC on Fri­day, Feb. 28 and Satur­day, Feb. 29. SKATE WITH THE BEARCATS Skate With the Bearcats will fol­low the Satur­day game.


Fri­day the Bearcats are in Bridge­wa­ter for a 7 p.m. game against the South Shore Lum­ber­jacks.

Satur­day the Bearcats will be in Yar­mouth to face the Mariners.

To date, he’s ac­cu­mu­lated 12 goals and 23 as­sists for the sea­son. He brings plenty of tools to the club.
