There are 13 German shepherd puppies waiting for names.

The pups were born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail, Alta., and could be canine RCMP members in the future.

Children, aged four to 14, can enter a contest to help name the animals and win prizes. Names must begin with the letter "N," have no more than nine letters, and can be one or two syllables.

Winning names, chosen by PDSTC staff, will be announced April 29 on the RCMP website and social media. A draw will decide the winning entry if a chosen name is submitted more than once.

Winners will receive a laminated 8-in. by 10-in. photo of the pup they named, a plush dog named Justice and an RCMP water bottle.

Contestants must live in Canada and may only enter once. Submissions must be received by Wednesday, March 25.

Entries should include the child’s name, address, and phone number, along with the suggested puppy name, and can be sent online at http://www.pot/namethe-puppy-contest or by post to
