CEC teams win regional titles
Cougars boys and girls to compete next weekend at provincial tournaments
TRURO, N.S. – Cobequid Educational Centre teams have earned berths at Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 basketball championships.
The CEC girls team captured the Northumberland region title on Feb. 20 after a 64-57 victory over the North Nova Gryphons to book at a spot at the provincial tournament March
6 to 8 in the Western region.
Meanwhile, the CEC boys defeated Dr. J.H. Gillis 8264 in the regional final to advance to provincials in the Capital region, also March 6 to 8.
In regional girls semifinal action, the Cougars thumped Northumberland Nighthawks 101-12, while the local boys came away with an 82-51 victory over Northumberland in their semifinal.
