Former Truro woman named Halifax police investigator of year

-

TRURO – A Cobequid Educational Centre graduate has received the investigator of the year award through the Halifax Regional Police.

Detective Constable Kim ( Rushton) Robinson received the award during a gala at the Halifax Mariott on Feb. 16.

She graduated from CEC in 1989 and attended Holland College for journalism. She completed an internship with the Truro Daily News in 1990.

Robinson returned to Holland College in 2000 for police science and did her on- the- job training with the Truro Police Service.

She has been employed with the Halifax Regional Police since 2001.

The award she received is presented annually to an officer who displays excellence in investigation.

Since 2005, she has been the lead investigator on a number of similar files – those where a man broke into the homes of young women and watched them sleep.

Robinson co- ordinated investigative efforts, including tracking files, ensuring analysis of related intelligence, setting up surveillance teams and following countless leads. Her self- motivation and persistence led to charges against a man who is awaiting sentencing. Since his arrest, such incidents have ceased.
