No. 9 Brandon Bazinet Sudbury, Ont. Five- foot- 10, 165 pounds 18, Forward
Brandon Bazinet is this week’s Bearcat- of- the- week. In Truro’s final two regular season games last weekend he totalled five goals and assisted on another. A four- goal night can never go unnoticed. He showed clearly that hard work, speed and getting the puck on the net can be very rewarding. Bazinet and linemates, Daniel Perigo and Brandon Boutilier, played a huge part in helping the Bearcats claim first overall in the MHL. Bazinet got his hockey start in the Valley East association in the Sudbury, Ont., area, and worked his way up to the Nickel City Sons “AAA” level. Following a single season in midget, he moved up to the junior level last year with the Blind River Beavers ( NOJHL). In 46 games, he recorded 13 goals and 31 assists and was named the league’s top defensive forward. In the offseason he sought a more competitive league, which landed him in Truro. The Bearcats got speed and a strong two- way player who was a natural fit. He finished this year with 14 goals and 22 assists over 46 games. He now awaits his first taste of the MHL’s Kent Cup playoff action.
MHL AWARDS
Hats off to Kyle Tibbo for being named the league’s top rookie for February. For the month, he garnered four goals and 10 assists to bring his season totals to 21 goals and 27 assists. Kudos, also, to defenceman Daniel Poliziani for being named to the league’s first- team all- star lineup.
