MacLAUGHLIN (Peterson), Carla Yvonne, 59, Tatamagouche, N.S. – It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family member and friend, Carla Yvonne MacLaughlin on July 27, 2016 at the QEII, VG Site, Halifax, N.S.

Born in Musquodoboit, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Donald and Laura (Brown) Peterson.

Throughout Carla’s life, she prided herself in helping others, especially children who needed a mother or grandmother. She easily became their “mom” or “grandmother,” and she was so proud to see her children and their families grow, both biological and chosen.

In recent years, pageantry had become a passion for Carla, where once again her family grew. She loved every child who came into her life dearly, and they loved her just as much. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone she knew and loved; they all know who they are.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim, Tatamagouche, her son, Daniel, Halifax, her life partner, William MacNutt, Tatamagouche, grandchildren, Matthew (Holly), Halifax, Hypatia, Edmonton, Nathan (Alana), Halifax, Abbygael, Tatamagouche, Jay Bly, Halifax, and Nathan Stonehouse, Oxford, N.S., her great-grandchildren, who called her great-big-Nana, Vivian, James, Landen, Briana, and Laycie, sisterin-law, Mary Jane Peterson, two special ladies, Lois Creelman and Nellie Cox, her chosen children, far too many to ever name, her former spouse, James MacLaughlin, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and USA. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Donald, and a sister, Diana.

As per Carla’s request, cremation has take place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax (902.477.5601).

There will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery, Tatamagouche, N.S. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carla may be made to Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery Fund, 7673 Highway 311 Rr#5, Tatamagouche, N.S., B0K 1V0 (902) 657-2428 or Brigadoon Village, 5523A Young Street, The Hydrostone Market, Halifax, N.S., B3K 1Z7.
