Karen Gail (Waugh) Gero – 56, passed away Aug. 19, 2016, in Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Ont.

Born on July 31, 1960, she was a daughter of the late James and Marjorie (Crewe) Waugh.

Karen made an impression on everyone who met her. Her friends and family were often the recipients of her loving and creative spirit. When she wasn’t at work serving her local favourites, she could be found cruising on two wheels.

Karen’s sense of humour and wonderful laugh could often be heard at any gathering, whether with family or friends. Karen touched many lives with her giving nature and Newfoundla­nd sense of humour.

Karen was so very proud of her boys, Robert, Josh and Devin and held a special place in her heart for her grandchild­ren, Taylor, Orianna and Cohen (Robert and Marney), Gracie and Jackson (Josh and Sara) and especially her “pride and joy,” Nevaeh (Devin and Cat).

Karen is survived by her partner, Wesley Haines, Ontario, siblings, Robert Waugh (Lana), Florida, Howard Waugh, Wentworth, Peter Waugh, Halifax, Jane Mackinen (Paul), Salmon River, Harry Waugh (Lucy), Ontario, Charles Waugh (Lynn), Onslow, Beverly Waugh Cutten, Bible Hill, Anthony Waugh (Karen), Lower Truro, Jackie Waugh, Lower Truro. Karen is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by husband, Albert “Butch” Gero, as well as sister, Barbara McLean.

There will be no public visitation by request.

A Private Family Celebratio­n of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
