GLOADE, Stephen Joseph, 78, Millbrook, passed away June 2, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his family by his side.

Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Stephen and Nancy (Glode) Gloade.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eileen (Marderosian); children, Michelle (Lorne Paul) Gloade, Millbrook, Stephen Joseph (Bonnie), Regina, Sask., Mark Anthony (Kara), Langley, B.C.; grandchildren, Shayla, Stephen, Emma, Aviana; sisters, Muriel, Theresa, Mary; brothers, Thomas and Gordon; godchild, Joanne Cope; several nieces and nephews.

Steve was a former Chief of the Millbrook First Nation. He was a champion of Native Rights and had a special interest in the future of youth in his community.

A conservationist his entire life, Steve was an avid fly fisherman and took pride in tying his own flies. He passed his ‘catch and release’ motto down to the youth every chance he could.

His children were his joy and his French bulldog, Teagan, meant the world to him.

Special thanks to his best buddy, Herman Taylor, who was always there for Steve and his family in tough times. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15 from 6-8 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.

In lieu of flowers or donations please introduce a youth to the joys of fishing or hunting.
