Truro thrower to represent Canada at Summer Universiade next month
Track and field star Peter Millman, of Truro, looks forward to representing his country and competing against the world’s best at next month’s Summer Universiade.
A Truro track and field athlete who starred with the University of Lethbridge Pronhorns will represent Canada at the Summer Universiade in Chinese Taipei in August.
Peter Millman (shot put), and fellow Pronghorn Sandra Latrace (long jump), will be competing in the Games Aug. 19 to 30 in Taipei City.
“It is always an honour to get to represent Canada on the world stage,” said Millman.
“What makes this Summer Universiade even more special is that I get to share it with Sandy.
“It is incredible to get to compete against university from all over the world and we hope to make the U of L proud.”
Millman represented Canada at the North American Central American Caribbean Association (NACAC) U-23 Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador last year.
During the past indoor season, Millman completed his university career by earning his eighth and ninth Canada West titles, winning his fifth consecutive weight throw gold medal and fourth straight shot put gold medal. He was named Canada West field Truro’s Peter Millman will compete at the Summer Universiade in Taipei City next month.

At the U SPORTS national championships, he won gold in
the shot put and bronze in the weight throw.
He was named U SPORTS Field Athlete of the Year for the second time and received a Student-Athlete Community Service Award.
Millman and Latrace will compete in qualifying rounds on Aug. 23, with the men’s shot put final later that day and the women’s long jump final on Aug. 24.
