GILLIS, Angus Neil – 89, Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Angus and Jessie (Creighton) Gillis.

Angus was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Gillis, Ontario; niece and nephews, Jim McKay, Alex McKay, Sue Weir, Rod Gillis; grand-niece, Jessie Gillis; grand-nephew, Andrew Jackman. Along with his parents, he was predecease­d by his sister, Janet McKay; brother, Creighton Gillis; wives, Sigrid (Redmond) and Sharon (Perlman).

Angus played as hard as he worked, excelling at hockey, golf and tennis. He was very proud of the success of Wood Gundy here in Truro and was the proud owner of “The Gundy Gal,” his 32’ Cape Islander.

Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Angus’ family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017, in Saint Andrew’s United Church (Chapel), 55 King St., Truro, Keith SelwynSmit­h, DLM, officiatin­g. Interment in Durham Cemetery, Durham, Pictou County.
