New project designed to bring businesses and people to Stewiacke

-

Ground has been broken for a new housing and business development Monday in Stewiacke.

Perry Lake Developments held a ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off work on the first phase of its planned Stewiacke River Crossing development.

The development, which is located off Highway 102, will create new space for homes and new businesses to attract nearby residents and travellers to the town.

The development has been in the planning stage for the last seven years, and is expected to wrap up its first of three phases in a few months.

The first phase consists of constructing the lots and infrastructure of the development, and the other two phases will depend on potential buyers and investors.

Spanning over 120 acres of land, the development will have a mixture of prebuilt homes and office space as well as empty lots for perspective owners to build on.

It will also have space to accommodate hotels, retail businesses and manufacturing sites as well as apartment complexes, townhouses and villas.

The development currently has 35 housing lots for sale, and is planning to expand on both residential and commercial space.

The developers, Perry Lake Developments, hopes the space will help bring in perspective investors from Halifax while also turning the heads of the 30,000 people using the highway daily towards the Town of Stewiacke.
