Going for it
Four Truro-based teams competing at Nova Scotia championships this weekend
After winning the Highland Soccer League title, the CC Riders U13 girls look to cap a successful season on the pitch this weekend by capturing a provincial crown.
The CC Riders under-13A girls team will try to continue an impressive streak for Truro-based soccer clubs this weekend on home soil.
The Riders will host the sixteam Nova Scotia championship at Harmony Heights and King Street fields.
They will try to follow in the footsteps of CC Rider teams that have already won provincial crowns this season. Last weekend, the Riders under-17 boys and girls teams and the under21 women’s side captured gold, while the under-21 men won bronze.
The U13 girls will play roundrobin games at Harmony Heights on Saturday against Cole Harbour (9 a.m.) and Bedford (5 p.m.).
The other pool features Scotia, Cape Breton and Antigonish. Sunday semifinal games are slated for 9 a.m. at both fields. The championship game will be played at Harmony Heights at 4 p.m.
The Riders are seeded second behind Scotia and enter the tournament after an undefeated season in the Highland Soccer League.
The under-13 girls are one of four Riders teams playing at provincials this weekend.
The U15 girls are in Dartmouth, while the U15 boys are competing in Bedford.
The U13 boys are also in action in Cole Harbour.
