After teaching Home Ec. in New Glasgow, Marg worked in the Home Economics branch of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing. She enjoyed her work with 4H clubs, Women’s Institute and other rural organizations. In 1955 she resigned from extension work and married Peter.

Marg devoted her life to her home and family.

She is survived by children, Nancy MacLeod (Robert), Joan Hamilton (Fred Burge), James Hamilton (Tracy), and Susan Hamilton; her seven grandchildren, Peter (Danielle), Laura, and Emily MacLeod, Ian (Emma Shaw) and Grace Hamilton-Burge; Hilary (Hanna Daltrop) and Eric Hamilton. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter.

Marg made loving and happy homes in each of the communities in which the family lived (Truro, Halifax, West Island Montreal). She was very involved in the university and church communities, and in other volunteer organizations. Over the last 36 years in Truro, she was active in St. John’s Anglican Church and served on the Altar Guild. She was an active member of the Ingonish Chapter of the IODE, and the Myrtle Branch of the Eastern Star. She loved to play bridge and enjoyed playing the piano when she could be persuaded to do so!

In recent years, visits from family were highlights in her life – especially when they could all be gathered together at the beloved family cottage on Caribou Island. She loved to spend time with her seven grandchildren. Her unusual and entertaining quotes, superstitions and sayings will be passed down through the generations.
