Alleged Hells Angel denied bail
An alleged member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang has been denied bail on drug and weapons charges laid after police raided his home in Cole Harbour last month.
David James Bishop, 35, was one of three people arrested after police executed a search warrant at his residence on Pernix Court the morning of Aug. 2 and allegedly seized a large quantity of drugs, drug and outlaw motorcycle gang paraphernalia, two guns and ammunition.
One of the weapons, a .38-calibre handgun, was loaded, according to court documents.
Bishop’s bail hearing wrapped up Friday in Dartmouth provincial court, with Judge Frank Hoskins ordering him to remain in custody. The reasons for the judge’s decision cannot be reported due to a publication ban on details of the hearing.
Bishop’s girlfriend, Jacquelyne Anna Brophy, 33, and Sara Michelle Walker, 28, both of Cole Harbour, were also arrested in the raid. They were charged and released by police.
All three are accused of possessing hashish and two recreational synthetic drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possessing benzocaine for the purpose of producing and trafficking a controlled substance, and possessing scales and a press for the intent of trafficking.
They also face a dozen charges in relation to the handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun allegedly found in the raid.
In addition, Bishop is charged with six counts of breaching a firearms prohibition.
The trio will return to court this week. If they elect to be tried in provincial court, Hoskins said early trial dates are available next month in front of a different judge.
