Sylvia Doris Pickles

PICKLES, Sylvia Doris, age 76, Chaswood, passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2017, surrounded by loved ones in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodobo­it Harbour.

Born in Eastville, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Weir) Dunlap.

Sylvia had been a hairdresse­r since 1975 and worked out of her home. The many customers over the years enjoyed her conversati­ons and the beauty of her gardens. She and her husband Harry spent many hours working on them, and were loyal members of the Valley Weeders. When not in the gardens, they could be found at bluegrass festivals and enjoyed many nights of dancing.

She will be loved and missed by children, Wayne (Dianna), Sherry (Gordon) Joyce, Colin (Karen); grandchild­ren, Steven, Nicole, Jeremy, Ashley, Christophe­r; seven greatgrand­children; siblings, Lawrence (Sharon), Albert (Dianne), Donnie (Kathleen), Shirley (Bob) Ross, Rosalie (Butch) Frizzell, Betty (Jim) Rector, Faye (Willie) Courtney, Barbie (Gordie) Miller, Cecil (Lillian); many nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her husband, Harry; grandson, Colin; brothers William “Willie”, Wesley.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Middle Musquodobo­it, at 2 p.m. on Friday. Following this, a time of remembranc­e and reception celebratin­g Sylvia’s life, will be held downstairs in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodobo­it. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperativ­e, Upper Musquodobo­it.
