RECC hosts world in grand fashion

-

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to send out huge congratulations to the organizing committee, the volunteers and the management and staff of the Rath-eastlink Community Centre for pulling off a tremendously successful world class event, the World Junior A Hockey Challenge. You did it!

As chair of the RECC board of directors I had the opportunity to watch this well-oiled machine go into action mode and observe all the pieces come together from as far back as a year ago when the idea started to become a reality.

I want to acknowledge Dave Ritcey and his committee of volunteers. They did an awesome job of bringing the world of Junior A hockey to our town in a classy and entertaining way.

I also want to acknowledge Matt Moore and his team. We sometimes forget that there are many people behind the scenes who work many hours with little recognition but contribute massively to the event’s success.

So to Partnerships and Events — Nick Sharpe; Finance — Brad Lawrence; Recreation and Leisure — Heather Fraser; Food Services — Michele Parker and Jenn Lamrock; Operations Team — Steve Barron, Glen Hollingsworth, Jeffery Culbertson, Melissa Maclaren and Terry Moser; Custodial Team — Phil Moore and Natasha Ettinger; Welcome Desk — Jolene Morris, Joel Taylor and April Crawford, and all the casual and part-timers in each department, a big thank you for a job well done.

You have done us all proud.

John Kelderman, Chair, Rath-eastlink Community Centre
