Collectors from across the country to converge on Truro for coin show
Coin collectors will have an opportunity to show their coins and have them appraised during an annual event in Truro this weekend.
Vendors and collectors from with common interests will be in Truro, looking to buy, sell and appraise a wide variety of coins and banknotes.
The third annual Central Nova Coin Club Coin Show will be held April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Best Western Glengarry on Willow Street.
“All of our tables for the event have sold out and we have vendors from as far away as eastern Alberta attending the show,” said event chairman John Macritchie.
The show will also feature a training seminar presented by Canadian Numismatic award winner Tim Henderson, a first for the Atlantic region.
“Tim has committed his time to take us through a training interval on how to do numismatic displays for national evaluations,” said Macritchie.
That takes place the day of the show at 2 p.m.
The show was originally created by the Central Nova Coin Club to raise interest in the hobby and bring together collectors.
“It really is the king of hobbies; it’s going to introduce you to history,” said Macritchie.
The club was formed four years ago and now has more than 30 members.
The club is encouraging anyone who is curious about their coins to bring them to the show for appraisals.
“We would really like to expand the show and see the circuit in the region grow over time.”
The event is open to the public, with both experienced collectors and newcomers welcome.
