Drugs, weapons, vehicles seized in police bust

A four-year-old boy was removed from a home in Onslow Mountain during a search that resulted in the seizure of narcotics and a loaded weapon.

A 29-year-old man was also arrested during the bust and is facing numerous drug- and weapons- related charges. The man, who was not identified, was released on a number of conditions and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Truro on Nov. 28.

The bust occurred Sept. 11 at approximat­ely 6 p.m. when members of the Colchester District RCMP, the Colchester Integrated Street Crime Unit (SCEU), Colchester General Investigat­ion Section (GIS) and Local Intelligen­ce Officers of Criminal Intelligen­ce Service of Nova Scotia (CISNS) searched a home on Onslow Mountain Rd.

The bust resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs, including cocaine, methamphet­amine and marijuana.

A loaded AR-15 .22 rifle, brass knuckles and a stun gun were also seized along with a side-by-side/ ATV and a sports utility vehicle.

Six people were in the home at the time of the search, including the four-year-old boy who was safely removed.

The specific charges include: traffickin­g of cocaine; possession of cocaine for the purpose of traffickin­g; possession of methamphet­amine for the purpose of traffickin­g; production of cannabis marijuana; possession of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of traffickin­g; three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; unauthoriz­ed possession of a firearm; two counts of unauthoriz­ed possession of a prohibited device; unsafe storage of a firearm; unauthoriz­ed possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle; possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence.
