Wildcats visiting Bearcats Saturday

In a battle of the big felines, the Truro Bearcats host the Valley Wildcats on Saturday in a Maritime Junior Hockey League tilt at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

Puck drop for the Bearcats home opener is 7 p.m.

Truro enters the game after a 3- 2 season- opening win last Saturday in St. Stephen, N. B., while the Wildcats are winless after two games, falling to 2- 1 in Pictou County in overtime last Thursday and 6-2 in Amherst on Saturday.

e Wildcats roster features Colchester County content, as Masstown’s Cameron Allaby (defence), Riley Macinnis of Bible Hill (forward) and Brookfield’s Brent Walters (goaltender) are members of the Valley squad.

Truro 3, St. Stephen 2 ST. STEPEHEN, N. B. — Karter Renouf’s third-period goal lifted the Bearcats over the Aces as they opened their 2018-19 regular season on a winning note.

Renouf’s marker came at 4:55 of the nal frame, after the Bearcats had opened up a 2-0 lead in the rst period, only to see the Aces counter with two of their own in the second.

Dylan Burton opened the scoring from Carson Lanceleve, and Kyle Sexton red Truro’s second goal, a powerplay marker, from Luc Arsenault.

Lanceleve also picked up a helper on Renouf’s winner, as did Curtis He ernan.

e Aces pulled their goalie for the final minute but couldn’t get the equalizer. Leighton Holstein and Noah Holm accounted for the St. Stephen goals.

Truro’s Myles Hektor stopped 24 of 26 St. Stephen shots to earn the win between the pipes. His teammates mustered 21 shots at the other end.
