Hart gives Bearcats offensive punch

-

Bearcat-of-the-week honours went to second-year forward Gavin Hart. Gavin opened the scoring and added an insurance marker in last Thursday’s 5-1 road win over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.

He got his hockey start in the Truro and area minor program, playing at the “AAA” level from the get go. In his second bantam season with the Truro Bearcats, he impressed with a 32-goal, 19-assist season, giving him 50 goals and 32 assists over those two years.

His single season with the Weeks Midgets saw him pick up 19 goals and 21 helpers. In both the bantam and midget seasons he was named to rookie all-star teams.

The 2017 Bearcat territorial pick cracked Truro’s lineup for the 20172018 season, finishing with 10 goals – seven on the power play – and 18 assists. The 2017 Halifax Moosehead pick suited up with the Mooseheads for the second round of their QMJHL playoffs last year. A skilled forward who plays with grit, he’s quickly become a go-to guy.
